Chateau Vinsenesse

What an amazing castle. It was Charles V 's hunting lodge. Later when the English kidnapped him, his son, John The Good fortified it to resist siege. John wanted no more kidnapping, as the French paid the ransom, but the English never let their king return. It is estimated that it would take 3,000+ troops to take the castle. No one ever tried to take it, as it was known for its heavy fortification. The main keep was over 65 meters tall and took 8 years to build.
The cathedralwasbuilt later, within the walls of the Chateau.
This is an archers window, designed with targeting and defense in mind.
